When Kelly isn’t at the studio teaching, she loves spending as much time as possible with her husband, two daughters, parents and friends enjoying the outdoors, being active and traveling. My fitness journey began with Pilates, and arose out of a need to find something to fix my back after the strains of riding horses took its toll. Becoming a Pilates student was a fun and challenging journey, but it was also very eye-opening. The benefits a healthy pilates practice brings to one’s body is all-encompassing, and one becomes fascinated with the process. So I went for my pilates mat certifications through Power Pilates almost seven years ago. As I began to teach pilates in a group fitness environment, I became exposed to Zumba (which I fell in love with immediately), and I became a Licensed ZIN… As with most things fitness, one begins to want to broaden their horizons, and I choose to become a LesMills BodyFlow instructor (a format which I also love to do and teach). After 35 years of teaching people how to ride horses, I have happily transferred my ability to coach how people move, into the modalities of fitness I teach. But my home base has always been Pilates. And I am so excited to bring pilates to the people in the Frederick area with Club Pilates!!!
I have been an Pilates instructor, Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor since 1998. I believe in living a life full of joy, gratitude, and free of judgement. These feelings inform and guide my teaching and practice, which is focused on helping my students better connect to themselves and with their surroundings. My certifications are through Peak Pilates and Balance Bodies on all Pilates apparatus and Mat exercises.
For me, Pilates feels like home. The discipline, the routine, the concentration takes me right back to my days in the studio as a dancer. And Pilates works! I have been a Power Pilates Mat instructor for three years. I love helping people feel good in their bodies, find space to open up, move in ways they never dreamed they could, and get stronger so they can live their best life! The face of a client when they tell me they are moving with less pain or able to hike with their children again, this is why I teach Pilates. Movement heals. When I am not teaching, I am usually with my family outside exploring or rescuing animals. I am also a Plant-Based Educator and a Nutrition Therapist. I am so excited to be a part of the Club Pilates family as a Comprehensively trained instructor and I can’t wait to see you in class!
